How to Design an Extravagant Wedding with Flowers

In Houston we love to show guests a good time and beautiful selfie opportunities. We want our wedding to wow people from the ceremony to the reception. We want memorable photos to look back at for the rest of our life.

How do we achieve this? We need to think in scale. If you come to us looking for Luxury and Extravagant. We are looking to input statement pieces.

For the ceremony we want the entrance doors to have arrangements welcoming people in. For the aisle we want to line it with flowers. Elevate them on columns so they tower over guests. Or have a thick garland down the aisle to act as a runway.

We want a feature altar that is either large, unique or both. And filled with flowers. The couple under the altar is the focal point for almost every ceremony photo. Using as many flowers as we can will be what most people will remember about your ceremony. It is the key take-away. When people think back at you two tying the knot, that is what they will envision.

Also, think about giving your guests an experience involving flowers. Having small bags of petals for the guests who line the ceremony aisle to throw in the air as you walk down the recession. It will give beautiful photos as well as give your guests a moment they will never forget.

We want to bring that same energy to cocktail hour and reception. The ceremony is the first act. Cocktail hour is intermission. And the reception is the second act. We want the feel of the wedding to flow smoothly through each stage. So we need to incorporate flowers into cocktail hour. We want a large arrangement at the bar. That is the first thing guests go to after the ceremony is over. We want a beautiful large arrangement to frame in the bar menu sign. The bartenders work hard pouring drinks. Give the guests something to look at while waiting. Add a simple arrangement to each high top. We do not recommend anything big, but something small really helps feel like you put in the effort. A simple floral frog arrangement would do. An elevated bud vase. It keeps guests fascinated about the effort put into the details.

And the reception. Do not be afraid to re-use ceremony pieces. We can use them in unique ways. We love to put a focus on the cake table. An arch behind a cake table makes such a beautiful photo. Or an arch re-used at the reception entrance frames the doors for the entire night.

Aisle arrangements are perfect to re-use on reception tables. You can upgrade them into compote vases for the tables to give them a different look. You can elevate them onto 24” columns to add height to the space.

Candles along with flowers are perfect for a luxury wedding. A low centerpiece with a trio of tall candles and a trio of votives is so beautiful at night when the flames are giving off romance vibes. Or go simple with single stem vases and candles. But do not skimp on the single stem vases. We want 5-6 per table along with candles to make an impact.

Bridesmaids bouquets can also be re-used. We do not recommend using them on round tables however. We prefer head tables for more impact. A head table lined with bud vases, low centerpieces, candles and add in the bouquets and you are really filling in the table space with what you already spent money on. Put the bouquets into mercury glass vases or a colored vase so you do not see clearly that it is a re-used bouquet.

We want where the couple sits to shine. We want something on top and on the floor of the table. Candles and flowers both. Ceremony entrance flowers work great when re-used at a sweetheart table. You can keep them on columns and put them on both sides of the couple. You can remove the columns and use them at the base of the table. It is the most decorated table you will have designated to you as a couple. Embrace the love and meaning of your commitment to each other and make it a table to remember.

Incorporate a hanging feature above the dance floor. Let your guests dance the night away under something floating above them adds depth to the space. We are now not just looking from the ground up, but top down to fill your eyes with romance and drama throughout the night. We want your guests to feel the complete dance floor aura when dancing those last songs with you.

The grand exit is not often done with flowers. If you are looking for a flower petal toss for a grand exit we highly recommend having petals fall from 2 places. If there is a balcony above the grand exit, have your florist rain petals down while the guests line up and toss their own petals. It gives the photos a much more saturated look.
